There is one hadith that changed my life as a teenager.

There is one hadith that changed my life as a teenager. It had a profound effect on me and motivated me to remain firm on His path – in every trial.

It was when the Prophet (peace be upon him) spoke to every teenager and young adult, till the end of time, he said: “There are seven whom Allah will shade in His Shade on the Day when there is no shade except His Shade…a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic…” – [Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]

On that Day when there is no shade except His shade, we will be shaded, because we gave up at a time when it was hardest to give up – our youth.

It’s tough being a teenager and a young adult, and it’s even more tough now.

You have social media calling you, distracting you, whether it’s Facebook or Twitter. In the past, we would worry about the words we utter, and now, every word we utter, write, or share, is recorded. You have Instagram, where beauty is glorified, and good character is belittled.

When the strangest people are known as celebrities, and their lifestyles are followed religiously.

We live in a time when it’s normal to date, and if you refrain, you begin to question your own self worth.

We live in times when it’s difficult to cover, in the age of celebrities, makeup tutorials and the lack of respect of scholarship and Islamic knowledge.

Allah says: “…compared with the life of the hereafter, the life of this world is nothing but a brief passing enjoyment” – [Qur’an:13:26]

Allah is reminding us that the Hereafter is always better. It is *always* worth the struggle. It is *always* worth the sacrifice. Remember, every du’a you make will assist you in the future.

Every sacrifice can be used to vouch to your Creator – because you can make tawassul through your good deeds.

Remember, Allah reminds us that: “If you express gratitude, I shall certainly give you more, and if you are ungrateful, then My punishment is severe.” – [Qur’an:14:7]

Everything you give up for Him, will be returned to you in ways you cannot imagine.

He will always give you BETTER.
