Eating and praising [Allah] is better than eating and staying silent
Ishaq bin Hani said:
“I was eating dinner with Imam Ahmad and some relatives.
We started talking and he [Imam Ahmad] was eating, [we noticed that] he was wiping his hand with his handkerchief after every bite and saying: ‘alhumdu lillahi wa bismillah’.
He then he said to me: ‘eating and praising [Allah] is better than eating and staying silent.’ “
